
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who is an attacker and captain for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team along with Carli Lloyd and Megan rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley and playing for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional there and was instrumental in helping the team win the league title. Morgan was just 22 at the time, was the youngest player of the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, which the team finished second. In the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the match-winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final game against Canada. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to score 20 goals in a single season. Following her selection as the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year Morgan was also named a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan also helped the United States win their titles in both the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments as well as winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
